Alternatives to Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormone replacement therapy, or HRT, is a means of replenishing the body’s hormones in the event of a hormone deficiency. HRT can utilize one or more hormones and be prescribed as either a menopause treatment or as contraception. HRT is available in several different forms and can be either natural or synthetic.
Before taking synthetic hormones, patients may wish to consider lower-risk approaches such as alternative medicine or lifestyle changes. Find out more about these by reading on.
Two approaches for treating menopause symptoms
Two levels of approach can be considered as natural hormone replacement therapy. These are categorized as: (1) Lifestyle Changes and (2) Alternative Medicine.
(1) Lifestyle Changes
This option involves no risk but requires significant willpower to make and stick with daily adjustments. Stress reduction techniques (e.g. yoga), a diet rich in estrogenic food (soy, apples, alfalfa, cherries, potatoes, rice, wheat and yams), and a more active lifestyle will all help counteract the effects of hormonal imbalance.
(2) Alternative Medicine
Alternative approaches involve little or no risk and are the best and safest alternative to hormone replacement therapy. Herbal remedies and acupuncture are leading types of alternative medicine.
Acupuncture is a Chinese medical treatment involving the insertion of very fine sterile needles into the body at specific points according to a mapping of "energy pathways". A successful acupuncture treatment involves time, money, and finding the right practitioner. Most women seek less complicated solutions and find that herbal remedies are a safe and effective solution.
There are two types of herbs that can work as more natural forms of hormone replacement therapy: phytoestrogenic and non-estrogenic herbs. Phytoestrogenic herbs (e.g. Black Cohosh, Dong Quai) contain estrogenic components produced by plants. These herbs replace some of the missing estrogen in the body; consequently, however, the body’s ability to naturally produce estrogen will be weakened.
Unlike phytoestrogenic herbs, non-estrogenic herbs don't contain any estrogen. These herbs nourish the hormonal glands into producing natural hormones more efficiently. This ultimately balances not just estrogen but also progesterone and testosterone. In other words, non-estrogenic herbs stimulate natural hormone production by inducing the optimal functioning of the pituitary and endocrine glands. Thus, non-estrogenic herbs like Macafem are the safest and most natural way to treat hormonal imbalance.
It’s wise to try a combination of approaches. Lifestyle changes combined with alternative medicine will probably prove most effective in treating hormonal imbalance.
A safe way for treating testosterone imbalance:
Non-estrogenic herbs are considered the most effective solution. Low cost and the nonexistence of side effects are just two reasons why this is a preferred treatment option.
Macafem, for example, is an excellent non-estrogenic herb. Rather than placing external hormones in the body, Macafem stimulates the endocrine system so that it naturally produces the necessary hormones. Click on the following link to learn more about Macafem.
