Women experience many unpleasant symptoms during menopause

During menopause, it's common to experience any number of unpleasant symptoms. There are almost too many menopause symptoms to list; they include vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night sweats, anxiety, hair loss, loss of concentration, memory lapses, mood swings, among others.

Many of these menopause symptoms are caused by fluctuating levels of hormones. Three of the most significant hormones in the female body are testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen. Keep reading to learn more about these vital hormones and how they can affect your menopause experience.

Hormonal Imbalance

Hormones are your body's way of regulating itself. Hormones manage many different functions within your body including the menstrual cycle, sodium retention, and fluid retention. They do this by working in balance with one another, creating a harmonized team of hormones.

However, at some points of your life, your hormone levels fluctuate; this could be during the menstrual cycle or pregnancy, for example. Your hormone levels also fluctuate during menopause. This can result in your body becoming confused and doing things it has never done before. These circumstances can lead to experiencing menopause symptoms. Keep reading to learn more about the roles of testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen within your body.

Importance

Testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen are three of the most important hormones in your body. Without them, your body would hardly be able to function; it would have difficulty doing even simple things like telling the time or watching TV.

Although it's often considered a uniquely male hormone, testosterone is also vital to women. A man may, on average, produce 20 times more testosterone a day than a women, but it plays no less an important part in the female makeup. Testosterone is vital for keeping your body and mind fit. It helps you to retain muscle tone and it revitalizes brain matter.

Progesterone is one of the most important hormones

Progesterone is one of the most important hormones in the female body. It helps with the regulation of the menstrual cycle; however, when levels drop as they do during menopause, it can result in numerous menopausal symptoms.

Estrogen is a hormone that is normally associated with women and for good reason. Estrogen helps to control the menstrual cycle. When estrogen levels rise during the menstrual cycle this causes a thickening of the uterine wall, which is necessary to create the right environment for a fertilized egg to grow.
